About Megan

Megan Kostelnik serves as the lead for the unmanned systems program at Pasco-Hernando State College, where she teaches all classes and has built a thriving curriculum with a 100 percent Part 107 pass rate and strong post-graduation employment outcomes for students. She holds a Part 107 drone pilot license along with AUVSI Trusted Operator Level 2 and SUAS thermographer Level 2 certifications. Her path into the field began with six years in the U.S. Air Force, followed by a bachelor's degree in management, technical management, and computer systems and a 2017 master's in aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where her thesis on drones for search and rescue led to an adjunct teaching role. She also gained hands-on experience flying drones as a contractor supporting special operations commands before focusing full time on higher education in Tampa, Florida.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Learn how to deal with stress better. That's why I lost the tooth, because I was clenching in my sleep at night from being stressed. If I could tell my younger self, learn how to deal with stress better, stress management. I have this thing where I'm like, this is a problem for tomorrow, for me, tomorrow's me. Don't do that. Don't put up problems for tomorrow.
