Her Story

About Megan

Megan Lamberton graduated from Boston College in 2010 with a degree in communications, earning magna cum laude honors. She began her career in New York City as an ad sales assistant at People Magazine and spent approximately 15 years in advertising, media, and marketing before making a complete career shift into logistics. At Amazon, she led a business that grew from $2 million to over a billion dollars in revenue during her 10-year tenure. She now operates a new fulfillment and logistics company with her family, running operations from a 50,000 square foot warehouse. Lamberton credits her success to an ability to handle ambiguity, maintain curiosity, and foster a positive attitude that shapes organizational culture. She emphasizes kindness and empathy as core values, particularly when managing teams, and advises taking risks while betting on oneself and surrounding oneself with inspiring people. As a woman in the male-dominated logistics field, she highlights the advantage of bringing a unique perspective and authentic self to the industry.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Megan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think being able to handle ambiguity and being thrown into situations where maybe you don't always have the answers. People that are curious and not afraid to try new things. Having a good attitude, positive attitude and optimistic attitude, the impact that has on organizational culture.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't be afraid to take a risk. It's never too late to try something. You can always go back. I took a complete 180 going from advertising into the world of logistics. You gotta bet on yourself. Surround yourself with people that you admire and feel inspired by.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

In logistics, you have a complete advantage. There are no women in logistics. You can bring a different perspective, bring your authentic self. Being a woman gives you opportunities.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges are price and cost. The cost of fuel is impacting shipping. AI is still something the industry is trying to figure out. Opportunity if you build out good carrier negotiated rates. For a new fulfillment company, AI gives an advantage because we can build backwards from those technologies.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Kindness. You never regret being kind. Empathy, especially when you're managing teams. At the root of everything, I just try to be kind, whether it's in life or in business.
