Her Interview
Ten minutes with Megan
01What do you attribute your success to?
Overall, its hard to attribute any success I have gained to one factor. I truly believe that I can credit a large part of my success to my support system, my family and my husband have been my biggest cheerleaders. Having that support system in place has allowed me to build a drive for success that can be outlined by intrinsic discipline, resilience and community. Those factors combined with prioritization at strategic moments, have led me to be the leader I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Training. You should always be training and developing your replacement in order to set yourself up for success, along with establishing a meaningful human connection.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Your career will accelerate the moment you stop trying to be “perfect” and start being strategic, present, and unapologetically competent.
Remember that people make the business. If you're not constantly or consistently training people to the expectations that you have or what's needed, then things aren't going to work out down the road.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Leadership instability in the service industry frequently leads to an overextension of workload. I feel that this can sometimes be attributed to gendered expectations in the workplace where women may feel like they have to 'do it all'. I also feel that this can be an opportunity to work against that stereotype by making sure you have the right systems in place to provide balance.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Ownership, Excellence, Loyalty, Growth and Balance.
