Her Story

About Megan

I was raised to value education. I have enjoyed creating a a diverse foundation to build my career. As operations manager, I serve as the team lead for our financial planning assistants on our private wealth advisory team. My days are filled with workload management, conducting one-on-ones with team members, and doing research behind the scenes. I still fill in gaps in the financial planning role when needed, but my primary focus is managing the people. I get to focus on helping people navigate the mental and emotional capacity needed to manage workload and our team culture. One of my proudest achievements is watching the transformational leadership I learned about in school help me build rapport and relationship with my team. Maintaining an open-door policy is important to me, and I am grateful for the education that helps me build relationships with team members and value the perspective of others.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Megan

01What do you attribute your success to?

My relationship with God continues to guide me. My faith has provided opportunities and the resources I needed to excel in each opportunity. I was blessed to grow up in a family built by faith and love. Between these two, I know there’s nothing I can do that would end in failure.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Work hard and play harder. Life goes by fast and it can be overwhelming. Work/life balance is incredibly important. Find what provides you with peace and prioritize it. You have to take care of yourself first.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

There is a space for you in finance. Women are unstoppable and irreplaceable. Don’t be afraid to find your voice and take up space. We belong here.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Change will always be a huge challenge that represents vast opportunities. Finance is a fast-paced industry that requires high-performing teams for continued success. Culture and technology can be forgotten in the grand scheme of things. You have to learn to embrace change and use it as a competitive advantage.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value being diverse and having the ability to have multiple perspectives so I can meet everyone where their perspective is. This helps me build rapport and the relationships I need to be the leader I aim to be. All of the different concepts I've studied and aspects of my background in education have poured into me to make me a more diverse leader, a more understanding leader, and it's helped me with my connections with my team. I also think it's important to show other young women what we can do when we put our minds to it. I want to empower others and always be a good example and a good influence, and I appreciate opportunities that give me a chance to do that.
