Megan McNamee is a UX Designer at Epic Games, where she helps shape player experiences for Fortnite Battle Royale. Megan brings a passion for crafting intuitive, emotionally resonant, and accessible gameplay experiences. Her design philosophy centers around innovation and player-first thinking, pushing the boundaries of what interactive experiences can be.
Before joining Epic full-time, Megan built her career through impactful internships at both Epic Games and Insomniac Games, where she contributed to the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Her portfolio showcases her ability to deliver compelling UI/UX solutions, blending technical skill with creative vision. She has a deep understanding of the full development cycle, from early wireframes to polished features.
Megan earned her B.S. in Computer Science from CUNY College of Staten Island, graduating with honors. Beyond her formal education, she’s committed to inclusive and accessible design, holding certifications like the AbleGamers' Accessible Player Experience Practitioner. Megan’s journey into games is rooted in a love for storytelling, community, and creating joy—one design at a time.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success largely to the incredible support of my friends and family, who have always encouraged me to pursue my passions. I’m also really enthusiastic about being part of a community of women in the industry who uplift and celebrate each other’s accomplishments—it’s inspiring and empowering to grow alongside such a supportive group.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the video game industry is to focus on projects you’re truly passionate about, especially those that make a meaningful impact—like game accessibility. Bringing your unique perspective to these areas not only drives innovation but also helps create more inclusive experiences for all players.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The opportunities in my field right now is the growing advancements in technology and big, bold ideas to bring games to life. This space is forever growing, and there's a lot of knowledge to take in and learn from.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In UX design, empathy is foundational. Understanding the user's needs, emotions, and pain points allows me to design experiences that truly serve people worldwide. In my personal life, I also prioritize empathy in connections, communication, and decision-making. I believe meaningful connections are built when we genuinely try to understand others' perspectives. A great UX is invisible — it just works! I value simplicity and intentionality in how I design, work, and live. Clear communication and thoughtful choices help avoid confusion and create better outcomes across the board.
