Her Story
About Megan
I began my professional journey in June 2012 as a tech specialist, which was like an account manager before we had the fancy term. I've spent nearly 14 years growing my career at the same company, and it's been really great. I started by being part of a department, then overseeing that department, and then I took my first leap of faith by starting a whole new marketing department for the company that we didn't have before. I wasn't doing bad in my current role, but I wanted to keep growing. In 2021, I took another leap of faith and jumped over to a different area of our business on the fulfillment side. From there, I kept growing and absorbed more departments under my purview until I was eventually promoted to VP of Product Fulfillment in November 2022. Today, big parts of my day are supporting the leaders that I oversee, whether that's working through a process, reviewing a report or data metric, talking about strategic initiatives and how we move those forward, or discussing their career development and where they want to take their career and continue to learn more.

Ten minutes with Megan
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think I attribute my success to both my mindset toward what I wanted in my career growth, but also equally having a ton of integrity and being open. There was very rarely anything that I wouldn't put my hand up in the air for, or say, like, I could learn that. Additionally, just being a continuous learner has been critical. I recognize that if you're not continuing to learn, whether that's through any medium that you're willing to learn through, that if you're not learning to continue to grow, you're actually probably falling behind, so making an effort in that space at all times has been key to my success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received was to make yourself the obvious choice in any situation that you're in. Whether it's to lead a project, or to run a team, or even to look into an issue or something like that, just make yourself the obvious choice. You want to make sure that whenever there's individuals sitting around a table saying, I wonder who could handle that, or who's our best fit to do something like that, that you're making yourself the obvious choice for that.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If I was to give women advice in coming into the industry, it would be to focus your career more on your level of accountability, responsibility, and impact instead of title. A title kind of can be fleeting. It can, you know, you get it one day, and it can be really exciting, you work really hard for it, and then it's just the title for the rest of your time, and the same thing's true about your paycheck. But actually looking toward a career where you have a ton of accountability and responsibility and impact, however you define those things for yourself, is, I think, the most critical part, or the best advice I could give anybody coming into this industry.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some of the current opportunities and challenges that we have are that the online marketing space is constantly evolving, which is exciting, but also can be a challenge. Trying to stay not just ahead of the curve, but trying to stay apace of everything is difficult. I think AI has continued to obviously impact every industry and understanding how we can utilize it, whether it's to streamline processes, or to understand our data even better, and then also utilizing it in the right way to get us the best answers and support our customers to the best possible capacity that we could, I think are all really important. Those are some of the challenges that we face right now, but they're also some of our greatest opportunities that allow us to keep growing and evolving in the industry and for the future for the business owners that we help support.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say leading with integrity, and just kind of an open mind and an open heart are my biggest values both at work and at home. I feel like a lot of things run through and can sum up to integrity, right? Trust, communication, honesty, all of those things all kind of can boil down to your integrity. And having kind of an open mind and an open heart to just what could be is important. Everything changes in the world so quickly, and it feels like we're all moving at a million miles an hour. I think just having an open mind to change, or something new, and an open heart to that, you're going to continue forward, put your best foot forward, and understand what something new is, whether that's an idea, a project, a concept. Sometimes even what sounds like a crazy thought ends up being the best thing that you could have ever done, whether that's personally or professionally, I believe.
