About Megan

Megan Steele serves as a commercial insurance advisor at Maguire Agency, representing Roseville, Minnesota. With six years in the commercial insurance industry and two years in her current position, she focuses her expertise on contracts review, ensuring that clients' insurance policies align with the requirements outlined in their contracts. Megan holds a paralegal degree and an associate's degree in criminal justice. She is currently pursuing her Certified Insurance Counselor credential, a rigorous program she expects to complete by the end of next year. Prior to entering insurance, Megan worked in the restaurant industry, which she credits with developing her strong work ethic, understanding of people, and commitment to service. As one of only two women in her role at the agency, she has recently surpassed many of her male colleagues in new business production. Megan values relationships, honesty, trust, and service in both her professional and personal life. She has volunteered with Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) and advises young women entering the field to persist without giving up, noting that persistence is the greatest predictor of success. She sees opportunities in the aging workforce for new generations, including more women, to reshape the male-dominated industry.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Megan

01What do you attribute your success to?

Working in the restaurant industry gave me a strong sense of work ethic. It taught me a lot about people, a lot about being of service, a lot about hard work. That industry shaped me professionally.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I live by the motto that I just never give up. Persistence is the greatest predictor of success.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being a woman in a male-dominated industry makes cold calling and gaining credibility harder than for male peers. Opportunities include an aging workforce creating openings for Millennials and Gen Z, with more women entering to change the industry's makeup.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Relationships with others, honesty, trust, and service.
