Turning 25 hit harder than 30. At 25, adulthood had already arrived. By 30, I stopped measuring life by age and started measuring it by growth and resilience.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Megan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to the values my dad instilled in me: independence, hard work, and perseverance. Those principles shaped my determination to take responsibility for my future and build a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. I believe lasting success is grounded in a strong work ethic, the resilience to move through challenges, and the commitment to keep going—even on the most difficult days. By remaining resourceful, learning from setbacks, supporting others along the way, and pursuing the right opportunities, I believe we can create meaningful success for ourselves and positively influence the people around us.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to remember that an organization can replace your role, but your family can never replace you. That perspective has taught me to protect a healthy work-life balance and remain intentional about prioritizing the people and relationships that matter most. I’ve also learned that growth often begins beyond your comfort zone. Having the courage to take a leap of faith, embrace uncertainty, and pursue a new opportunity can open unexpected doors—and sometimes change the direction of your life for the better.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women is to never allow anyone to convince you that you are incapable or that you do not belong. You may find yourself in spaces where you are the first to challenge expectations or break barriers; step into those moments with confidence and remember that your courage may open doors for others. Speak up, advocate for yourself, and claim your place at the table—not only because you have earned it, but because your voice and perspective matter. I have experienced imposter syndrome myself, but I have learned that doubt does not diminish your abilities or determine your worth. When you know you have the skills, experience, and determination to be there, trust yourself, own your accomplishments, and never let anyone make you believe otherwise.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Healthcare finance and management are becoming increasingly complex as organizations work to balance rising operating costs, reimbursement pressures, workforce shortages, investments in technology, and the ongoing responsibility to deliver high-quality patient care.

For hospitals, academic medical centers, and integrated healthcare systems, the central challenge is achieving long-term financial sustainability without compromising access, affordability, or quality. Meeting this challenge requires thoughtful resource allocation, disciplined financial stewardship, and strategic decisions that support both organizational stability and the needs of patients and communities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle, exploring the outdoors, and experiencing the world with my daughters. I enjoy hiking, visiting beaches and mountains, and exploring archaeological sites and museums—interests that reflect my passion for anthropology and history. Sharing these adventures with my daughters is especially meaningful because it gives them opportunities to appreciate new places, cultures, and perspectives. Recently, I have also recommitted to regular gym workouts as part of prioritizing my health and overall well-being. As the parent of a daughter with complex medical needs, while also navigating health challenges of my own, I have gained a deep appreciation for self-advocacy and focusing on the aspects of life within my control. Making intentional choices about my lifestyle, fitness, and well-being helps me care for my body, process difficult experiences, and maintain resilience through challenging circumstances.
