Her Story
About Megan
Megan Woods is a Senior Personal Lines Underwriter at WestPac, a Colorado-based wholesale brokerage, where she has built her career around personal lines insurance and non-admitted risk placement. Since joining the company in April 2024, she has focused on hard-to-place residential risks throughout Colorado, including properties with prior loss history or wildfire exposure, and has taken on responsibilities spanning new business quoting, submission review, account marketing, and underwriting. Among her proudest achievements is her role in helping launch WestPac's personal lines division from the ground up, where she helped establish carrier relationships and set up inspection vendors that continue to support the team's growth.
Megan's path into insurance began at the University of Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Risk Management and Insurance and Managerial Finance. While she hadn't originally set out to work in insurance, professors in her college RMI program opened her eyes to the possibilities within the field and ultimately set her on this career path. She entered the industry through an internship in 2016 and went on to hold underwriting roles at firms including Burns & Wilcox and Amwins before joining WestPac. She holds an active Property and Casualty Insurance License through the Colorado Division of Insurance.
Beyond her day-to-day work, Megan stays engaged in the broader insurance community as a board member of the PIIAC Next-Gen Committee and an active member of Young Risk Professionals of Denver. Her contributions to the field have been recognized nationally, earning her the title of PropertyCasualty360 Insurance Luminary in both 2024 and 2025. She credits much of her success to the steady support of her parents and the strength of her professional network, and she remains focused on deepening industry relationships and expanding her visibility in the field. Outside of work, Megan enjoys golfing and traveling with her dog.
