Meggan Mertz

Meggan Mertz brings over three decades of dedication to the field of education as a teacher and behavior interventionist serving students in Clyde, Michigan. With 31 years of experience, she began her career teaching for 20 years before transitioning into behavior intervention and is now returning to the classroom to support emotionally impaired students. Her academic background includes a bachelor's degree in English and Elementary Education from Albion University as well as a master's degree in learning and behavior disorders and 45 credits toward a PhD in educational leadership focused on behavioral health from Grand Canyon University.

Throughout her career, Mertz has demonstrated a strong commitment to student success through innovative programs and community initiatives. She founded and operated a nonprofit after-school mentoring program for 30 years, helping numerous students achieve high school graduation. As a behavior interventionist, she created the Shift Room program at the local high school, a supportive space where students can address behavioral challenges before escalating to disciplinary action, and she has shared this model by contributing a chapter to a restorative practices handbook and speaking at the state level on the program and PBIS. Mertz also serves as a board member for the Athletic Factory and produces the Resilience Blueprint podcast, which addresses teen mental health from both student and educator perspectives.
