About Megha
I have been in AI as a product manager and developer for almost 11 years across multiple startups and big tech companies. My current work at Microsoft Bing focuses on safety for AI search, ensuring that information surfaced by search engines and AI tools is safe. Previously I spent about 4 years in ads, working on privacy-first contextual advertising. I am from India and completed my electrical and electronics engineering and master's in data science at BITS, a top private engineering university there.

01What do you attribute your success to?
A lot of family support, especially from my immediate family during high school and entrance exam prep in an orthodox society. Support from people around me including my husband during late nights and career changes. Luck and opportunities that came my way.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Learn to ask for help. I used to fear asking questions thinking others would think I don't know anything, especially after job changes or coming from a reputed institute, but my managers and mentors taught me to speak up instead of drowning alone.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't make yourself small or belittle yourself to make space for others - take up space when you enter the room. Technology has no gender bias, so stop thinking of it as a man's thing or that we are not technical enough.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and grit. Integrity means being trustworthy and doing what you say you will do. Grit means putting in 100% effort with no 99%. I expect and show the same in personal life with friends and family.
