Her Story

About Megha

I have spent about 15 years working at the intersection of technology and business, driven by curiosity about how technology applies to business. After studying engineering and completing my master's in India, with an internship in Italy, I came to the U.S. and pursued management studies. I started as an analyst at IDC during the emergence of iPads and mobile devices, analyzing how they were cannibalizing the PC market and the rise of cloud computing. I then moved to the semiconductor industry preparing chips, and eventually to AWS where I had many vantage points across the business - working with customers on the front line, handling operational work, and cross-collaborating with product teams on product development. I helped customers with their data journey while also working internally to scale AWS products. Now at Google Cloud, I continue this work focusing on data and AI, particularly how agents are impacting the data and AI stack. My role is unique because I go deep into the technical architecture that Google Cloud is building while also looking at the business operations side - revenue forecasting, pipeline generation, win rates, cycle time, and how to land products effectively in specific market areas. About a month ago, I moved into a team where I'm leading from the front end, doing customer engagement and talking about Agent Tech Data Cloud, focusing on building data infrastructure to enable AI workflows for business operations and productivity.

Ten minutes with Megha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to constant learning, continuous learning, having a growth mindset, and doing inner work. I've spent so much time in this industry that I'm able to deeply understand the needs of customers, understand the products or solutions they're looking for, and also understand how to build those products from a technical architecture standpoint. I'm proud that I've spent enough time to hone my skills and sharpen my saw, deeply understanding this area. Most importantly, the work I put out there comes from curiosity and learning - I've written articles, built industry relationships, and connected with customers and cross-functional teams just out of curiosity. As a result, opportunities have come organically, like being invited to give a guest lecture at Stanford University. Because of the work I've done and the curiosity I've had, it has opened doors for me that I never expected or anticipated, and those doors have had much bigger impact than I would be able to do in a single job.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't get bogged down by what other people say to you, what you can and you cannot do. Let curiosity lead the way, and let kindness be the way of your life.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are resilience, patience, integrity, hard work, and focus. I believe more and more as I progress in my career, it's more about internal alignment than anything external. What this world needs is how you can come alive as a person, and when you come alive is when you bring your passions out into the world - that helps make the difference. I have to do a lot of internal work to ensure that I have the right priorities and I'm focusing on the areas that I love the most where I can bring my strengths.
