Her Story

About Meira

My journey has taken me from practicing law in Israel to creating something entirely unique here in Florida. I studied law and practiced criminal and family law in Israel, always feeling drawn to the psychology side of things. When I moved to the United States, I worked as a paralegal after getting my certificate from the University of Miami, but I was going through a transformation in my life. I started painting and drawing emotionally, something I had never done before. All those paintings and drawings came from something deep inside me during that change. That's how LookingMe was born. I took all those paintings I created on canvas and turned them into a card deck - 12 cards of girls, 12 cards of boys, and 12 fantasy cards. Each one has meaning. When you sit with someone and put the cards in front of them, they choose one that they see themselves in, and it says something about their character - both the positive and negative traits. I've used it with people, sold it to schools, and partnered with a therapy center in Israel. It works in so many ways - you can see how you view yourself versus how others see you, track your personal growth over time by comparing which card you'd choose today versus ten years ago, or use it to open conversations when people don't want to talk directly. It's easier for them to express themselves through a painting. I combine imagination and fantasy with reality - I'm very grounded but also very imaginative. My goal is always to hook both of them together, because if you want something to be successful, it needs to be realistic but also have imagination and fantasy. That combination of logic and imagination is what I believe makes things work.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

First of all, you need to learn what you love, what you like. I know that a lot of people say that you have to take a profession that you will make money from, but in my mind, when you go for something you like, you can do it the best, and then you can make money from it. I don't think you need to be an accountant or a lawyer or things like that - I don't think in a way of a square, I think outside of a square. The moment you do something you like, you make it the best you can and actually earn from this. In life, it's about experience - you need to try a lot of things, and then you find what you like. I don't believe in fear. I believe in taking the chance, to see what works, what doesn't work, try something else, but to try. Everybody has a path in life, but not all people know their path or find it all their life. I think if you do experience and you try and you see, you try again and you see, that's the best way.
