Her Story
About Mela
I was always passionate about flowers and gardening. I grew up in Romania, and we traveled the world. After living in several countries, I moved to the UK, to London, and I understood that it was the right moment and the right place to start my business. Blooms were everywhere. They were part of the culture and part of everyday life. I studied professional floristry at a very prestigious school in London and got my design credentials from a really good school in the USA. I mostly work with hotels and high-end venues - hotels are my thing, my specialty. I run my business on two continents. I have a big team in London creating high-end events under NDA, most of them. Now I moved to the States, and I have Melacerte London LTD and Melacerte USA LLC that is focused to operate in North America, but I do travel all over the world. Most of my work is not just flowers - it's a full-on production and a concept. Every event is a concept. The floristry that we do is really architectural and unique.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My business and my brand is my other baby. That's how I treat it. I protect it at all costs. Reputation is the only thing you cannot buy. It's so hard to earn that. I'm obsessed with flowers. I grew up surrounded by flowers in a communist country, Romania, and there was nothing around me other than the gardens and the changes of seasons. I always was passionate about how the flowers grow, bloom, and die. It makes me feel like it needs to be enjoyed in the moment. When people say flowers need to last forever, does your birthday last forever, or is it just that moment? I think women should support women more. Because if you don't do that, who else is gonna do it?
