Her Story

About Melanie

Melanie Manos serves as an educator in the fine arts and works as an artist. She finds that teaching in this field is generative for her own artistic practice while also allowing her to engage with young people in spaces of wonder, curiosity, and imagination. Manos earned an undergraduate degree combining art history and history from UCLA, where she worked with mentor Mary Kelly through an Undergraduate Presidential Fellowship on an independent art project. She completed a Master Gardening program and draws on her love of nature in her personal pursuits. Manos is active in the Detroit art community, attending openings, talks, and lectures. She serves on the advisory board of the New York-based Holes in the Wall Collective, which focuses on socially engaged art with a social justice premise, and she is a member of the Ceri Hand Network, a British network supporting artists. Her career goals include traveling more extensively to present her work globally as an arts ambassador.
