About Melanie
I originally came to the United States to study and started in accounting, but I changed my mind to go into computers because there was something challenging about it, and I like challenges. I went back to school and did all my requirements until Dell Technology hired me in 2006. I've been at this company since 2006, and from there, I did all my curriculum, meaning I went back to school and completed my bachelor's degree, my master's, and my doctorate degree. I'm really thankful to the support that I received from my company and also my managers. It was a milestone for me because being a woman, especially in my community, it's a challenge to see women in IT fields. I wanted to be a voice for girls, for women, just to let them know that we can achieve anything, we can do anything that men do. I've been at Dell almost 20 years and I love it. My day-to-day basis consists of managing accounts, those are the accounts that purchase equipment through Dell, and we want to make sure that our customers are happy. I reach out to our customers, making sure that we provide them with proactive solutions because we don't want our customers to have a broken system taking long to find somebody to help them. I ensure that my customers minimize downtime by providing them with proactive solutions. I make sure every day that my customers are taken care of if they have any technical issues and that they have the engineers that are supposed to do the job. I want to make sure that my customers are taken good care of and also build a good relationship with those customers, which is going to be good for not only the customer but also for Dell. After my doctorate, I engaged in starting my own business, so my job revolves between my day-to-day job at Dell and my weekends, which are almost full with working and trying to build my business.
