Her Interview

Ten minutes with Melinda

01What do you attribute your success to?

My faith in God has kept me strong and carried me through the tough times in my career and personal life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Care for the whole person, treat patients holistically, and see them as individuals beyond their medical issues. The nurses at St. Thomas taught me to care for the whole patient and allowed praying with them if needed.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay true to your faith, follow your intuition and gut instincts, speak up when something feels off, and prioritize self-care for longevity in the profession.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Resistance to trying new approaches in healthcare; rules made by people outside the hospital setting that don't make sense for patients or nurses. Opportunity to combine modalities like traditional medicine and homeopathy.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, honesty, authenticity, being who you are, and letting your gifts and purpose shine through.
