Her Story
About Melissa
My professional journey has been pretty good so far. I've been in my industry for a few years now. My day starts with eating healthy, getting plenty of exercise and rest, and waking up early. Then it's about talking to important people, finding the right talent, and networking. I make sure everything is typed up and documented, and that everything runs smoothly and with precision. Sometimes it's about finding new talent and getting the right people to the right networks, making sure they go through the right channels. I've also worked with local community resources, making sure everyone is getting the help and attention that they need. I've published a collection of children's books and my first two adult novels, and I've written a collection of screenplays. Being able to network with Hollywood executives has been one of my most notable achievements. Right now, I'm focusing on these screenplays and making sure the proper talent and proper development gets together.

Ten minutes with Melissa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having a strong family, strong committed values, and integrity. Always integrity and always never giving up, always believing in the dream. These are the foundations that have made me as successful as I have been.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to always be mutual, always be friendly, and always put in 110%. Really take time to listen and communicate openly and honestly with others, because everyone has a story and a different perspective to share.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell women entering my industry to always believe in themselves, to never give up, and to always know that there is another door to open and be opened.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now, I've been focusing on these screenplays and getting the proper talent and proper development together. That's the challenge I'm working with right now. I just had a conversation with a lady about stepping into a role in a screenplay that another lady had written, and I'm just making sure those hesitancies are kind of met and resolved.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and integrity are most important to me. I make sure that the community receives integrity, and I make sure that everyone involved receives the integrity that they deserve.
