About Melissa
I started in education around 2009 after my mom, who was an educator herself, encouraged me to become a teacher instead of a pediatric nurse because she said the best educator for my children would be me. I worked at Mary Sears daycare where Mr. Thomas and Mr. John guided me, and now I am an assistant in a third-grade classroom at Chicago Public Schools. I recently graduated with my bachelor's in early childhood education on June 6 with honors and membership in the National Honor Society. I am completing my student teaching and practicum at National Louis University by early June to earn my full teaching license through ISBE.
