Melissa Gunn is the owner and operator of MGs Cleaning Services LLC, a professional cleaning business based in Martinsville, Indiana. With more than twelve years of experience in the cleaning industry, Melissa has built her career through dedication, resilience, and a strong commitment to providing quality service. She began her journey working in supermarket maintenance, specializing in auto-scrubbing and buffing, before spending eight years in a power plant cleaning role where she developed valuable skills and professional experience.
After years of working in the industry, Melissa took the opportunity to become an entrepreneur and launched her own cleaning business in 2022. Through MGs Cleaning Services LLC, she provides dependable cleaning solutions while focusing on creating safe, comfortable, and welcoming environments for her clients. She has also expanded her professional knowledge by completing OSHA 10 training and participating in an 80-hour construction course, demonstrating her commitment to workplace safety, continued learning, and career growth.
Melissa’s journey is defined by perseverance, personal growth, and a passion for helping others. She believes in treating every client with compassion and respect, especially those facing challenges such as difficult living situations or major life transitions. She credits her success to her faith, her children, and the support of the people she has met throughout her journey. Looking ahead, Melissa hopes to continue growing her business, hire additional support, and expand her expertise into areas such as restoration work and specialized cleaning services.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my children, who are my greatest motivation, and to God, who has guided me throughout my journey. I am also grateful for the kindness and support of the people I have met along the way. For me, success means having my bills paid, my children healthy, and seeing how far we have come from where we were 15 years ago.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Believe in yourself before anyone else does, and do not wait for everything to be perfect before pursuing your goals. Embrace opportunities that challenge you, continue learning, build meaningful relationships, and stay adaptable. Do not let fear of failure hold you back—some of the greatest growth comes from unexpected challenges. Most importantly, define success on your own terms, stay true to your values, and remember that true leadership is about the positive impact you make on others.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
We are living in a time of tremendous opportunity driven by technology, innovation, and global connectivity. These changes allow leaders to share ideas, collaborate, and create meaningful impact across industries. One of the greatest opportunities is using our experience to empower others through mentorship, collaboration, and authentic leadership. The leaders who will make the greatest impact are those who remain adaptable, continue learning, embrace innovation, and use their success to open doors and inspire the next generation.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is the foundation of my personal and professional life. I value honesty, consistency, authenticity, empathy, and respect in every interaction. I believe people thrive when they feel valued, heard, and empowered. I also believe in the power of collaboration, as diverse perspectives lead to stronger ideas and better outcomes. Success is most meaningful when it creates opportunities for others to grow and succeed.
