Melissa Haring is a strategic finance leader and Controller with over 15 years of experience driving accounting and financial operations across manufacturing, distribution, SaaS, and IT services environments. Her expertise spans GAAP-compliant financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, revenue recognition, and audit coordination, enabling organizations to operate with strong financial foundations and confidence.

Throughout her career, Melissa has led end-to-end finance functions in high-growth and operationally complex organizations. She is known for building and mentoring high-performing teams while implementing systems and controls that improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Melissa’s career path reflects resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning. Largely self-taught, she has developed a broad, well-rounded skill set that extends into operational strategy and business advisory. In addition to her corporate leadership roles, she is channeling her expertise into her venture, Owl Eyes Advisory Group, where she helps businesses improve processes, optimize financial performance, and grow more strategically.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong work ethic and consistent dedication, as well as my ability to effectively balance my professional responsibilities with my family life—an achievement I am most proud of.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to remain humble and to “chase my talents”—focusing on what I do well and what I genuinely enjoy.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to stay humble and focus on “chasing their talents”—identifying what they do well and enjoy, and building on those strengths to create a fulfilling and successful career.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is understanding how artificial intelligence will shape the future of our work. While higher-level roles like mine may remain relatively secure due to the need for human judgment and decision-making, I am concerned about how AI could impact the career paths of members of my team and the opportunities available to them moving forward.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In both my professional and personal life, I value transparency and alignment, as they are essential to building trust and achieving meaningful results. I also place a strong emphasis on honesty and integrity, which guide my decisions and interactions across all areas of my life. Above all, I believe kindness and compassion are critical—because whether as a parent or a leader, treating people with respect and empathy is key to fostering connection and earning trust.
