About Melissa
She is a senior higher education legal and compliance professional with more than 25 years of experience in legal affairs, risk management, regulatory compliance, and institutional investigations. She currently serves as CEO and Principal Consultant at A Different World Consulting, advising higher education, K–12 institutions, and mission-driven organizations on legal and compliance matters. Previously, she held senior General Counsel and Vice Chancellor roles at North Carolina A&T State University, Ball State University, and North Carolina Central University, providing strategic counsel to leadership and governing boards. She holds a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is pursuing an Ed.D. in Organizational Learning and Leadership at UNC Chapel Hill.
