Her Story
About Melissa
Melissa Hyatt has been working in the field of medical assisting since 2010. As of today, she serves as an instructor for the administrative side of the medical assistant program and as a teaching assistant for the clinical side. In this role, she provides students with the information they need, helps them complete proficiencies and skills such as documenting in patient charts, business letters, telephone techniques, hand hygiene, and vitals including blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Hyatt graduated high school in 1997 and completed a two-year medical assistant program that she started in 2008 while working full time, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Upon completion, she earned phlebotomy and EKG certifications. She is a member of American Medical Technologists. Hyatt's most rewarding aspect of her work is seeing students successfully complete the program and advance in their careers. She advises young women entering the industry to dedicate enough time to study and advance their education, as it is something no one can ever take away.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice would be to dedicate enough time to study and to advance your education, because it's something that no one can ever take away. You're always going to have that.
