Ten minutes with Melissa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I am actually first generation Mexican here. My family is from Mexico, my mom and dad, so it would say that is definitely one of the key things, also because I am bilingual, so I also feel that that has paved my way, because I'm able to speak not just one, but two languages as well.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Definitely, that not to be afraid to start to work your way to where you want to be, especially with corporate companies. Like, if it's something that you see that you're interested in, it's okay to start off as an admin. Also, since this is such a field that it's so up and down, it's okay that when you're in the field, if you have to take a step back, a setback is not a setback, it's a step forward.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Definitely. I feel like for you, like, values, I feel like it's definitely resonates with everyone differently. I feel definitely is, like, staying true to yourself, and making sure that you also put strong emphasis of a work-life balance, because I feel like that's super important. Regardless, and just make sure that you're just staying true to self, and I feel like that's the number one thing.
