Her Story

About Melissa

Melissa Lockhart, PhD, GNP, FNP is a nurse practitioner and CEO of Powerful Wellness. She supports women aged 45 and older with midlife resets through courses, boot camps, individual and group coaching, and a membership program that includes a 24-7 health library. Her approach emphasizes the five pillars of health: sleep, optimism, hormonal balance, metabolic resets through nutrition, social connections, and exercise and movement. Lockhart graduated with a nursing degree in 1971, inspired by her mother who was a nurse in North Africa during World War II. She earned a master's in community public health nursing after recognizing issues with equity and access to care, then completed a doctorate from Texas A&M and Baylor College of Medicine. Her career has spanned research on the quality and cost of care with multiple funded studies, serving as an assistant professor teaching nursing, owning a chain of home health agencies with a focus on geriatrics, and clinical practice in primary care. She co-founded Harley's Angels in 2003, a group of women riders that raised over one million dollars for breast cancer research at MD Anderson and Baylor College of Medicine.
