About Melissa
Melissa Montoya is the founder of Legacy Workforce LLC, a small Texas-based staffing agency. She connects commercial construction companies with remote estimators from Central or South America. A civil engineer who graduated at the end of 2017, Montoya began her career in design work on highways and roadways before transitioning to commercial construction, where she contributed to projects such as data centers, battery plants, office spaces, hospitals, and renovations. Recognizing a shortage of estimators and untapped talent from her Central American roots, she founded the agency to match skilled professionals with U.S. opportunities. She specializes exclusively in recruiting construction estimators, drawing on her own experience in the field. Montoya attributes her drive to finding her purpose in this work, which she pursues to build a foundation for her future family. Outside her professional efforts, she sponsors a child from El Salvador through Compassion International.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to finding my purpose. Finding my purpose in doing that is what pushes me. I don't have a family yet but want to set up my future family.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get to know yourself as a person because that gives you confidence. Try everything you want to try because you don't know what you don't know. Be patient with yourself and know that what you're working on is going to pay off eventually. Put everything on my higher power, my God.
