Her Interview

Ten minutes with Melissa

01What do you attribute your success to?

Hard work and something inside me, probably my God-given talent. I find a calling to keep living.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Stay curious.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Learn from the best. Do not back down. There are plenty of opportunities for us out there.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is the translation of our skills to job descriptions. Outside individuals do not understand our skill sets. On the positive side, more dietitians are taking the leap into non-traditional roles which will help bridge the gap.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Work-life balance, family, flexibility, and integrity of the organization. Being in a space where I feel open to make suggestions and contribute.
