Her Interview
Ten minutes with Melissa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say just experience. Of course your family has an impact, your spouse has an impact on who you become. I was gifted with a son late in life so I attribute a lot to my family. My former employer I worked for them for 20 years. They taught me a lot of things that I would never know or be able to accomplish. In fact I probably wouldn't have accomplished my book without working with some of the females I mentored with.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You're no different than the man across the table and you are worth the same value. Support each other because sometimes in the workforce we can be our own worst enemies. We need to support each other and lift each other up versus sometimes we can be catty and very in competition with each other.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being present. Having compassion. You have to be driven. You can't take no for an answer. You have to have a non-quitting spirit.
