Her Interview

Ten minutes with Melissa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my children, who inspire me every day to become a better professional and person. Supporting my son, who has ADHD and autism, has taught me patience, resilience, empathy, and perseverance. Those experiences have strengthened my ability to guide, mentor, and encourage others in their professional growth. I also take great pride in balancing the responsibilities of being both a full-time mother and a dedicated professional while helping others achieve success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to believe in themselves, even when they don't feel completely ready. Keep learning, ask questions, and never be afraid to embrace new challenges. Growth comes through taking action rather than waiting for perfection. Trust your abilities, value your ideas, and never underestimate the impact of your voice. Most importantly, support and celebrate other women, because there is more than enough opportunity for all of us to succeed together.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The insurance industry is constantly evolving with changing carrier guidelines, advancing technology, increasing automation, and rising customer expectations. While carrier restrictions continue to become more complex, I see these changes as opportunities rather than obstacles. Professionals who remain adaptable, continue learning, and invest in ongoing training will be best positioned for long-term success. I strongly believe that education, collaboration with carrier partners, and continuous professional development are essential to staying ahead in this industry.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe in leading with integrity, honesty, consistency, and genuine care for others. I value building trust through clear communication, following through on commitments, and leading by example. Coaching and developing others, empowering people to succeed, and practicing emotional intelligence are central to both my professional leadership style and my personal life.
