Melissa Showalter, MBA, CMP, is a strategic corporate event professional currently serving as Senior Account Manager with Imprint Events Group. With extensive experience in account management, operations, and service management, Melissa is known for her ability to build strong, lasting relationships while delivering projects on-time and on-budget. Her career spans roles at leading hospitality organizations including Omni Hotels & Resorts and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, where she consistently exceeded sales goals and earned recognition for outstanding performance.

In 2020, Melissa furthered her professional development by earning certifications in Digital Marketing and Google Analytics and pursuing her MBA at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. While at Crummer, she actively contributed to leadership initiatives, including the Mentor/Protégé Program, Student Leadership Advisory Board, and Peer Ambassador activities, strengthening her expertise in strategic leadership and collaborative problem-solving.

Outside of her professional life, Melissa balances her career with motherhood and personal passions. She coaches 4th–7th grade co-ed basketball, explores new culinary creations, travels with her husband, and enjoys quality time with her miniature schnauzer. Committed to giving back to the industry, she currently serves as Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the MPI Greater Orlando Chapter, supporting the advancement of her professional community and mentoring emerging leaders.

I attribute my success to my willingness to embrace change, stay flexible, and remain committed to continuous learning. I have been fortunate to benefit from strong mentorship and supportive leadership, and I’ve learned to lean into discomfort as a catalyst for both personal and professional growth.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be brave, try new things, and not be afraid to step outside my comfort zone. Embracing this mindset encouraged me to leave my small-town roots in Pennsylvania, relocate to Florida, and pursue opportunities that challenged me and helped me grow professionally.

My advice to young women entering this industry is to be brave, try new things, and embrace stepping outside your comfort zone. This approach has guided me throughout my career, from leaving my small-town roots in Pennsylvania to relocating to Florida and pursuing opportunities that challenged me and helped me grow professionally.

The meetings and events industry is facing rapid change, tighter budgets, and increasing expectations for creativity and innovation. I see these challenges as opportunities to leverage adaptability, embrace technology-driven solutions, and focus on building strong relationships, all of which enable me to deliver meaningful, customized experiences.

Collaboration, adaptability, and integrity guide both my work and personal life. I value building genuine relationships, staying curious, and balancing ambition with mindfulness—especially as I navigate my career while embracing motherhood.
