About Melissa
Melissa Thompson has dedicated over 30 years to the field of human services and policy. She began her career after attending Penn State, where she conducted numerous published research projects. Thompson later earned a master's degree from Capella University and is currently a PhD candidate. She was recognized in Who's Who and received various accommodations and awards upon graduation. Throughout her career, Thompson has contributed to organizations such as the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Women in Need, and Planned Parenthood. She has served as manager and director of a homeless shelter and food pantry, reconstructed nonprofit agencies, developed their policies and procedures, and assisted them in obtaining grant funding. Her work spans direct service, research, education, and now focuses on policy advocacy, including a bill proposal for independent living for seniors. Thompson is also authoring her first nonfiction book based on her personal experiences.
