One of Melissa's most personally significant achievements has been authoring a book that explores depression and suicide through a lens of hope, healing, and resilience. Drawing directly from her own lived experience, she uses the book as a platform to reach others navigating emotional hardship, aiming to normalize difficult conversations and dismantle the stigma often attached to mental health struggles. Her willingness to speak openly about vulnerable subjects reflects a broader philosophy she carries into both her personal and professional life: that authenticity and honest communication create space for genuine connection and healing.
At the core of Melissa's approach to work and life are the values of honesty, openness, trust, and communication, paired with a deep commitment to listening and continuous growth. She points to her enduring curiosity and eagerness to learn as central to her professional achievements, noting that she approaches nearly every day as an opportunity to expand her knowledge and mature further. Melissa is candid about the fact that self-confidence and public speaking were once significant hurdles in her own journey, but through steady persistence and repeated exposure, she turned those weaknesses into strengths. She now hopes to pass that lesson on to young women entering the workforce, encouraging them to pursue self-belief without losing sight of humility, kindness, and respect for others along the way.

Ten minutes with Melissa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my love of learning and growing. On a daily basis, I strive to learn, grow, and mature, whether personally or professionally. I try to absorb as much knowledge as I can about almost anything, because I believe that mindset has been the foundation of everything I've accomplished.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Throughout my career, I've held a variety of roles, leading sales teams, managing financial operations, training new employees on point-of-sale systems for restaurants and breweries, organizing executive events, and providing strategic administrative support to senior leadership. Each of these experiences taught me that every opportunity to learn contributes to future success, and that belief has shaped how I approach my career at every stage.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering the workforce to believe in themselves while remaining humble enough to keep learning. Confidence should always be balanced with kindness, respect, and a genuine desire to grow, both personally and professionally. It's important to stand up for yourself, but to do so with respect, politeness, and humility.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Self-confidence and public speaking were once among my greatest obstacles. Through persistence, experience, and a willingness to keep showing up, I gradually transformed those challenges into strengths. That journey taught me that confidence isn't about being perfect, it's built through consistent action.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that have guided me throughout every stage of my career are honesty, openness, trust, communication, and the ability to truly listen. I also credit much of my success to maintaining an unwavering love of learning and remaining willing to continually grow, no matter where life has taken me professionally.
