Her Story
About Melissa
Melissa Zhang is a marketing professional, student leader, and community advocate based in Tallahassee, Florida. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Florida, where she is a senior with aspirations of attending dental school. Professionally, Melissa serves as a Sales Marketing Assistant at NeuEve, a women's health company, where she contributes to marketing strategy, social media campaigns, influencer partnerships, and performance analysis to strengthen brand engagement and reach target audiences.
In addition to her marketing responsibilities, Melissa serves as Vice Chair of Programming at UF Bridges, an organization dedicated to supporting underrepresented high school students through mentorship and college preparation. In this leadership role, she oversees programming initiatives, coordinates speakers and educational workshops, manages a $10,000 budget, and works with university admissions representatives to help students navigate the college application process. Her previous leadership experience includes serving as Executive Director of Jiating, a Chinese lion and dragon dance company, where she helped expand its initiatives and establish an internship program. Through these roles, Melissa has developed valuable skills in program management, event coordination, marketing, and organizational leadership.
Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Melissa is passionate about community service, mentorship, and creating opportunities for young people. Her involvement in student government and volunteer organizations reflects her commitment to supporting minority students and expanding access to education. She has also mentored more than 100 children in STEM, encouraging their curiosity and academic development. Whether organizing cultural events, supporting college-bound students, or contributing to marketing initiatives, Melissa approaches her work with creativity, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose. She encourages young women to believe in themselves, persevere through challenges, and remain determined in pursuing their goals.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, perseverance, and my passion for mentorship and community service. Through my leadership experiences, professional responsibilities, and volunteer work, I have learned the importance of empowering others and creating meaningful opportunities for growth. I believe in facing challenges with determination, remaining committed to my goals, and never giving up despite obstacles.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to never give up and always believe in themselves. The world can be challenging, especially for women navigating male-dominated spaces, but it is important to stay resilient, stand firm in your values, and never let others discourage or intimidate you. Believe in your abilities, overcome obstacles, and keep pushing forward toward your goals.
