Ten minutes with Melody

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, which serves as the foundation of my values, purpose, and commitment to serving others. As a devout Christian, I strive to lead with compassion, humility, love, and forgiveness while reflecting the principles that guide my life. I am also deeply grateful for the support and encouragement of my parents, professors, and close friends, who have challenged me to grow, pushed me to pursue excellence, and helped build the confidence I carry into every opportunity and challenge.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to never be afraid to try new things and to remain open to new opportunities, while also recognizing when it is important to say no and stay aligned with my goals and values. I have learned that growth comes from stepping outside of my comfort zone, embracing new challenges, and being willing to learn. Just as importantly, I believe true leadership requires humility and a commitment to serving others, as the greatest impact comes from using my skills and experiences to support and uplift those around me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to embrace challenges and never allow fear of high standards or difficult expectations to hold them back. Do not be afraid to compete, take on opportunities, and demonstrate your capabilities in environments where you may be underestimated. Step forward with confidence, trust in your abilities, and be willing to push boundaries while continuing to learn and grow. By approaching challenges with determination, resilience, and faith, you can create meaningful opportunities and make a lasting impact in your field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is learning how to effectively work within diverse teams by recognizing and complementing each individual’s strengths and areas for growth. Success requires understanding how to contribute my own skills while supporting others and identifying where I can provide the greatest value. I believe that by building strong relationships, fostering collaboration, and remaining adaptable, I can continue to grow as a leader and serve my team and mission more effectively.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are selfless service, compassion, respect, and grace. I believe in stepping forward to serve others, creating an environment where people feel welcomed and valued, and treating every individual with kindness and dignity regardless of our differences. By leading with love, empathy, and respect, I strive to make a positive impact on the people around me and contribute to a culture built on understanding, support, and genuine care for others.
