About Mercy
Mercy Aruleba is a Scrum Master with over four and a half years of experience in the technology sector. She earned her BS in Computer Science from Lehman College at the City University of New York and holds certifications as a Business Analyst Encore professional and Scrum Master. In her current role supporting an insurance company, she serves as the bridge between technical development teams and business stakeholders, facilitating efficient feature development while leveraging her technical background. Aruleba also operates her own travel consultancy business, which she launched in January 2024, drawing inspiration from a high school trip to Europe. She is an active member of the Eastside House Settlement program, where she mentors upcoming high school students and was recently featured in their art catalog. Aruleba attributes her success to perseverance, staying curious, and continuously asking questions, especially as a woman of color in tech, and she advises young women entering the field to advocate for themselves and recognize that their network is their net worth.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Not giving up and having perseverance even when things weren't clear, especially as a woman of color in tech. Staying curious, asking questions, and always learning something new every day has helped me grow both personally and professionally.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Ask as many questions as you can and don't assume that you know everything. Be comfortable advocating for yourself and don't be afraid to ask for opportunities, even if you feel you're not ready yet. Your network is your net worth.
