Her Story

About Meredith

Meredith Rucker is a dynamic creative executive, educator, and entrepreneur serving as CEO of Meredith Rucker: designer + mentor + educator. With a career in graphic design and marketing spanning back to 2010, and a passion for creativity that began in childhood, she brings a lifelong commitment to visual storytelling and brand development. Fascinated by technology from an early age and deeply rooted in fine arts, including drawing, painting, and photography, Meredith intentionally merged her artistic talents with digital innovation. Originally from Virginia, she relocated to Florida in 2007 with aspirations of becoming an illustrator or animator, a vision that ultimately evolved into building her own successful creative business, which she has led since 2015.

Professionally, Meredith has established herself as a strategic leader in media and design, with extensive experience as a Chief Creative Officer and Media Director. She is especially recognized for her decade long tenure as Brand Manager for Contagious Church, where she led projects from concept to execution across graphic design, live production, and digital media, overseeing elements such as streaming, lighting, audio, and visual storytelling. Her ability to manage complex, multifaceted creative initiatives has strengthened her expertise in crafting cohesive brand narratives that resonate across platforms and audiences.

In addition to her industry work, Meredith is deeply committed to education and mentorship. She has served as an Adjunct Instructor of Graphic Design and a K to 8 Art Teacher, and currently teaches as an Enrichment Teacher with Techie Kids Club, where she introduces youth to graphic design and technology at an early age. Holding a Master of Fine Arts in Media Design, along with degrees in studio art and graphic design, Meredith continues to expand her knowledge and stay ahead of emerging trends. Inspired by an entrepreneurial upbringing, she is passionate about empowering others, especially the next generation, to develop their creative voice, build technical skills, and pursue opportunities in design and digital media with confidence and purpose.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was to not play small. I think especially creatives that are behind the computer or the camera, sometimes we can get comfortable back there. We don't really think that we have anything to offer outside of that. The best advice I've ever received is to start teaching what you know. I'm training children and youth in graphic design skills early, so that they don't have to wait to go to college. These kids know so much about technology now that you can actually start teaching them things earlier. Just stepping out and start teaching people what you've learned over all the years is probably one of the best pieces of advice that I've got.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say just to persevere. There may come other opportunities that seem like they're more lucrative and may have more comfort and stability, but being a business owner isn't about comfort or stability. I would say just to persevere, stick to your guns, go after what it is that you want to do, whether it's graphic design, whether it's marketing, engineering, all of those things. Doors will begin to open for you, rooms will begin to accept you, but you've got to really stay focused and not be distracted.
