Her Story

About Meredith

I own my own business called Media by Mayor, where I work as a Social Media Strategist helping small businesses from Southeast Texas and Houston elevate their social media presence. I take clients through not only content creation, but help them build an overall marketing strategy and really define certain things about their business, like who is their target audience and what's the goal behind marketing - the broad stuff, but also down to the specifics. I majored in communications advertising and always had an interest in advertising and marketing, though I wasn't quite sure what direction to take. In May 2024, I got an internship with my local church creating social media content, designing merch, and doing video editing and graphic design work, and I really liked that. About a year later, I started an internship with a photography business in Houston doing full marketing and social media management, where I was pretty much completely in charge of all of the marketing. My business began after I got married in summer 2025 - my wedding coordinator had just launched her own thing and had no idea what to post on social media. I started talking to her about her target audience and what she should post, and after the wedding she reached out to become my first client. I launched my business in August 2025 because I loved working with her, but I also love working with a bunch of different industries. I can't sit still, so it's fun to be able to do a lot of different things while still focusing on content creation and marketing.

Ten minutes with Meredith

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say anytime a client tells me that they feel so much more fulfilled doing their business because they're able to focus on their service and whatnot - that just means the world to me. I had one client recently leave a review and she went on and on about how I've helped save her hours upon hours that she now gets to put towards her business or spending time with her family and things like that. That feedback really drives me and reminds me why I do this work. I also think the more I create, the more creative I get. I like to take inspiration from other people and co-work with some of my creative friends - we'll go to a coffee shop and bounce ideas off of each other. And I think my faith is really at the core of who I am. I'm a Christian and I love my church and my community, and everything flows through that, just how I treat people.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say two things. One, just keep learning and doing your research, just to research without doom scrolling. But also, find support, like support groups or community groups online. I recently joined an Instagram group for girls who are doing the exact same thing that I am, and that has really been a game changer because they're talking about the struggles that they go through and any advice that they have. Like, if there's a specific problem I have or question regarding marketing or social media, one girl might pop in and say, oh, I actually just dealt with this exact situation, like let me tell you what not to do or what to do. That group has really helped me mentally and just skill-wise. So never stop learning and find your community.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Definitely just how saturated the market is. Social media is probably the fastest evolving field because trends only last like a week, and so you're constantly having to adapt. But yeah, just fighting the game of growing with the algorithms, but also being able to quickly apply everything you learn to each individual client field and help them grow as well. You know, not every business is like - not every product or service is the most exciting thing, which means it's not always the easiest to market. But that's kind of where the challenge comes in, and we gotta push through and figure out how can we make this exciting and make this something people want to watch.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I'm a Christian, and I love my church and just my community, and that is like the core of who I am. Everything flows through that, just how I treat people. When clients tell me they feel so much more fulfilled doing their business because they're able to focus on their service, or when they tell me I've helped save them hours that they now get to put towards their business or spending time with their family - that just means the world to me. I love spending time with my family, walking and being out in nature, and my faith and community are really what ground everything I do. I also love cooking and making music with my husband - I'm actually a singer-songwriter with music out on all streaming platforms under the artist name Meredith Page. My business is something I absolutely love, but it also pays the bills so I can pursue my passion for music.
