About Mia
I currently work as an account manager and head of branding and creative recruiting at a global executive search firm, where I've been for over 5 years and in my current role for nearly 2 years. I started with this organization in more of a business development capacity while completing my master's program, and I've grown in leadership responsibility while taking on diverse projects like social media management, creating a new logo for the organization, and publishing a book for the company before I started doing that personally. Day to day, I serve as a liaison between our business partners and clients on executive searches, handling everything from creating job descriptions to redesigning the company website and business development brochures. I coach candidates on resume updates and how to present themselves in interviews, especially with clients. Our niche is executive-level positions globally, with a lot of recent work in the industrial sector, and I'm always looking to increase diversity in who we're presenting to make sure client organizations are well-balanced with different perspectives. Before this role, I've worked across multiple industries including international higher education, real estate, healthcare, food and beverage events, and I founded my own company called Two Pennies in the self-care, wellness, and cosmetics space. Currently, I'm also a published author of 6 books and co-founder and CFO of an early-stage philanthropy focused on feeding children in the education system.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I love bringing people together and hosting events - that's huge for me. I'm all about being somewhere different and trying new things, and travel is a major part of my life. I like to stay busy and always have things to look forward to - I want to have 5 things on my calendar a day that aren't my main job because you gotta keep things interesting. I like to be around people more than anything else, and I think a lot of the work I've done lately has resonated with a certain ethos around human rights and environmental justice. I also believe in increasing diversity in organizations and making sure they're well-balanced with different perspectives.
