Mia Chirpas
Mia Chirpas is a Sport Management and Business Analytics major at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She is pursuing a dual academic focus through a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analytics, combining her passion for sports with a strong foundation in data-driven decision-making. Through her studies, Mia is developing analytical, strategic, and leadership skills that prepare her for a career in the sport industry.
Outside of the classroom, Mia is actively involved in campus organizations that emphasize teamwork, communication, and inclusion. She is a member of the Association of Multicultural Sport Professionals, where she engages with peers and professionals to support diversity and representation within the sport industry. Additionally, she participates in the Ohio University Spike Ball Club, collaborating with teammates multiple times a week to build strategies, strengthen communication, and enhance overall performance in a competitive and team-oriented environment.
Mia also brings valuable professional experience from her part-time roles in customer service and youth instruction. As a hostess at Texas Roadhouse, she manages high-volume waitlists, optimizes seating arrangements, and ensures a positive guest experience through organization and clear communication. Previously, she worked as a swim instructor and lifeguard at Goldfish Swim School, where she taught water safety skills to children while fostering confidence and trust. Together, these experiences highlight Mia’s strong interpersonal skills, leadership potential, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

I attribute my success to the unwavering support of my family, who have consistently encouraged me to pursue my goals and stay committed to both my academic and personal growth. Their guidance, motivation, and belief in my abilities have provided a strong foundation, allowing me to approach challenges with confidence and resilience.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mom: to trust myself, knowing that I know what’s best for me, and to always follow what feels right.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering this industry that it can be challenging and even lonely at times, but it’s important to keep pushing forward. Stay confident, put your best foot forward, and make meaningful connections along the way—those relationships can make all the difference.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is balancing the demands of school, work, family, and friendships. Learning how to manage time effectively while staying focused and present in each area is challenging, but it also presents an opportunity to build strong organizational skills, resilience, and a healthy work-life balance that will be valuable long-term.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty and truthfulness, building genuine connections, showing a sincere interest in others, and maintaining a strong work ethic. I believe being hardworking while staying authentic and respectful helps create meaningful relationships and leads to long-term success.
