Her Story
About Mia
Mia Pinkney is the Clinic Manager of a laser hair removal clinic in Gainesville, Florida. In this role she oversees two nurse practitioners and a front desk staff, handles patient consultations, maintains high customer service standards, and ensures the clinic earns five-star Google reviews. With more than thirty years of experience in sales, she has demonstrated strong business growth skills by expanding her current location from a single laser to a two-laser operation and is now relocating to Miami to develop a struggling site. She obtained an associate's degree earlier in her career and is currently attending Santa Fe College in Gainesville with plans to pursue financial advising while continuing in sales. Pinkney attributes her success and independent leadership style to her experience as a single mother at a young age, which built her character and determination. She values treating every client with equal compassion and empathy regardless of background, and she advises focusing only on factors within one's control while striving to be the best at whatever one does.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Mia
01What do you attribute your success to?
Being a single mother at a young age really built my character and made me strong. I had to go hard for my daughter so she wouldn't have to struggle the same way. It molded me into the independent boss I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Only focus on what you can control. A lot of people get down about refunds and returns but you can't control that. I don't dwell on refunds, I care about what's ahead and closing sales.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
We're resilient. We get a lot of unexpected things thrown at us that we have no control over, but just overcome those things. Be the best you can be at whatever it is you do.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Opportunities are always about growing the business and sales volume. I do a quarter of a million a month in sales. Challenges include competitors and people not wanting to invest in our lifetime guarantee packages.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Treating everyone the same across the board. I'm very compassionate, I'm an empath. I treat the queen and the lady the same as the CEO of the company.
