Her Interview
Ten minutes with Miara
01What do you attribute your success to?
I initially started this journey to be a provider for my son and daughter and bonus child. It grew into a passion and hunger for learning new things. The love of the work motivated me, along with relationships with peers and higher management seeing their successes.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Who or what angers you controls you. Nothing lasts forever, so you will have bumps and bruises along the way, but what you do with those makes a difference. You have to control the narrative of how you want the day to benefit you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never go into this field with an I don't know mentality. Always go into the field with the mindset of, I will figure it out. If you say I don't know, you tell your mind that it's not capable. But if you say let me figure it out, you give your brain the opportunity to expand and find different ways.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The amount of technology growing in the field helps companies but kills other positions, making it easier to go for technology versus the person. Also fighting for your worth and pay despite experience, certifications, and college debt.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value respect. I value quality time with people. I value time and people's time. I value being able to communicate with people professionally or personally because I learn so much from other people's perspectives and learn empathy.
