Her Interview

Ten minutes with Michaela

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't take it too seriously. Things are gonna come and go. Business is gonna be busy, business is gonna be slow. Learn to just go with the flow. When you learn how to let it go, you have a better business and a better home life.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Thick skin. Learning how to not take things personal and be effective. Just learning to not take things personally. He's not mad at me, he's mad at the situation.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Figuring out how to reach customers and stand out from others in a saturated market. Branding yourself and making yourself stand out. Connecting with people in person and one-on-one to build relationships, as that is a lost art.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Communication. Being able to do it in a way that is kind and professional and thoughtful. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. Texting has hurt relationships because you can't hear how someone is saying it.
