Her Interview
Ten minutes with Michaela
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
When I was young, the head of pharmaceuticals at an internship told me to just do what you're passionate about and the money will follow. I did that and it was the best decision. The second piece of advice is that you are the average of your five closest friends, so surround yourself with people who have the skills that you want in your life.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunities are being able to specialize in a device that you resonate with. For example, at Medtronic, engineers work on devices in fields like heart or brain that impact their loved ones. Being able to work on something every day that directly impacts the well-being of your loved ones is a unique opportunity.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In work: being authentic, ethical, willing to help others, approachable and kind. In personal life: balancing work and life, making time for people around you, showing up for others, prioritizing health, well-being, and mental health.
