About Michaela
Michaela Kaufmann is a Global Business Director at Rockwell Automation, where she leads global product management, sales, and commercial engineering initiatives within the manufacturing technology and automation sector. With nearly two decades of experience in industrial automation, she has built a career focused on developing innovative solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency, flexibility, and productivity. Her expertise spans independent cart technology, robotics, motion control, packaging automation, and emerging industrial technologies.
Michaela began her professional journey in Germany through a dual education apprenticeship program, gaining hands-on experience across purchasing, marketing, finance, sales, production management, and customer training. She later advanced through roles at Schneider Electric and Rockwell Automation, progressing from training and account management positions into global product management and business leadership roles. At Rockwell Automation, she has successfully managed product portfolios, scaled emerging technologies, owned business strategies, and helped drive commercial growth across international markets.
Beyond her leadership responsibilities, Michaela is passionate about mentorship, workforce development, and encouraging more people—especially women and young professionals—to pursue careers in technology and manufacturing. She actively supports industry initiatives through PMMI: The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies and participates in programs that introduce students to opportunities in automation. She holds an Executive MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and is recognized for her commitment to lifelong learning, collaboration, and creating inclusive pathways for future industry leaders.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the mentors, colleagues, and connections who have guided and supported me throughout my career. Building strong relationships, understanding key influences, and being patient in learning how everything connects within an organization have been essential to my growth and success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is the importance of networking. Building meaningful relationships, understanding who influences decisions and why, and taking the time to see how everything connects are essential for long-term career growth and success.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to start networking early and build connections with other women who can provide support, encouragement, and guidance. Don’t be afraid to reach out, make your voice heard, and seek opportunities. Persistence is key—there are many paths to success, so stay confident and never give up.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field has been navigating a traditionally male-dominated industry and creating more opportunities for women to advance. I have learned that confidence, resilience, and strong leadership are essential to overcoming barriers. I also believe we need to be more intentional about supporting and advocating for one another, which is why I focus on mentorship and helping other women grow in their careers. At the same time, the future of manufacturing and industrial automation presents incredible opportunities through digital transformation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies. Diverse perspectives and collaborative leadership will be critical in shaping the future of the industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are balance, personal growth, and making time for what truly matters. I believe success is not just about professional achievements but also about taking care of yourself and creating space for personal well-being. I have become more intentional about building healthy habits, from challenging myself through experiences like completing a half Ironman to creating small personal rituals that help me recharge and stay grounded.
