About Michala

Michala Klassen serves as a Jewelry Consultant at Shane Company. In this role, which she has held for just over two years, she helps guests build and design custom jewelry pieces while connecting with them on a personal level and expressing creativity through one-of-a-kind designs. She collaborates with jewelers to bring her ideas to life and has helped expand custom opportunities at the company. With eight years of prior experience in fashion sales, including work in bridal and pageant prom couture, Klassen is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing and sales at Southwest Minnesota State University. She is in her last year of the fully online program and plans to use her degree to advance into leadership and eventually marketing roles at the company's home office.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Michala

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have a really amazing team behind me. There's been a lot of support and a lot of growth. I could not do it without the team, without the company I work for. My willingness to learn and grow, being open, and the passion I have for what I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

You can't grow where you're comfortable, so you have to find the uncomfortable and grow from there. That's what pushed me into where I am now in both jewelry and just in life. There's been a lot of uncomfortable in the last 2 years, and I have found a lot of success in it.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge I faced was that I had no prior jewelry education. There is a lot more to know than you might think. I take pride in learning everything about stones, metal types, diamond shapes, and more so I can answer any questions for my guests.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being honest and true to myself, and just working hard. I try to show up every single day with as much positivity as I absolutely can, because it spreads to other people and improves the world around you.
