Her Interview

Ten minutes with Michele

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my father. After losing him in 2020 from stage four cancer, it triggered something in me, realizing that life is, just too, short. Nine months after he had passed away, I was faced with a pivotal point in life and had to make a life changing choice. I'd recall, my father used to ask 'when are you gonna go back to school?' With this, I chose to go back to college and I wanted to do something that made me happy. His advice will always resonate in me. Going back to school has opened so many doors and this has led to my success. It's because of him that I'm where I am today. If it wouldn't be for these blessings and special people in my life, ultimately, it is due to God. It came easily and this meant it was meant for me.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do it and own it. Life is too short, and that's one of the things that I've experienced. Why wait? Time is short. Do what makes you happy and take it all in.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The field I intend to go into, past content creator and podcasting, is the film industry. Unfortunately for women today, it's still competitive. I mean, it's competitive in general, but it's still kind of a field that women have to break through in a bit. So we still have a lot more work to do as far as that. That's one of the things I tell women: to not worry about so much of this, but stand your ground. You know, if this is something that you're passionate in, then continue doing it without having those hurdles hold you back. And that's one of the things that I find will be a challenging thing. Either way, if it's something that you're passionate in, it's gonna come easy to you, no matter what.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are about how you are as an individual and how you carry yourself. One of the things I've been grasping onto is faith, and I know a lot of people don't have much of it lately. I admit, I struggle with it as well. But knowing that you're somebody not only with faith, but with faith comes other things like kindness and humility, and being considerate of others around you and how you treat them. Just like the saying, you treat others the way you want to be treated. Sometimes that doesn't always convey to the situation you're in or what you're involved with, but it's more so about knowing how kind you are to others, even in your professional life, and how you treat others. You never know when you're gonna work with that person again, even if it's in a volunteering thing or something small, because they can come back and they'll remember you for that.
