Q

What do you attribute your success to?

There are several things I attribute my success to. One of them is that my parents taught me from a really young age that you don't quit things, you don't give up on things. You complete something once you've started something, you complete it. That kind of helped me go through life as an adult. For example, when I was little, they were like, you're playing on the soccer team, and you're gonna finish everything you started with them, and then if you want to move on, that's fine, but you're gonna finish up. You can't quit in the middle of the season or something like that. I just kind of felt that way about everything else. Then, also, I've had a lot of things in my life happen personally that could have got me down, but I had friends and family and just my belief in God that helped propel me forward. Having this group of people to lean on as I went forward, I don't know where I would be without them.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I think the best career advice I've ever gotten is, you're never gonna know unless you try. Like, if you don't try this new job, or if you don't try this new position, you're never gonna know if you're gonna be able to succeed at it. And then it also came with the whole, you have to fail in order to succeed a whole bunch of times. Nobody that made it, or has made their goal, or gotten to their goal, or their dreams, didn't do it without failing, so it's okay to fail. Pick yourself back up and try again. I've always kind of lived my life like that.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say that the best thing that you can do is find a mentor that you can trust, that you've seen be successful, that's honest, that's willing to help you and give you advice, and listen to them. Soak up that information, because they're just gonna be there to help you, and that will help you reach your goals quicker.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say the opportunities would be that there is a large opportunity right now, because companies are growing and booming, to continue to get out in the community. Go to community events, so that you can not only meet these companies that are hiring people so that you can get your company in there to help them succeed in their staffing needs, but then you're also going to meet people that you can help change their lives. You might meet someone there, and they need a job, and then you can say, hey, I have this company, we can help place you there. Call one of my recruiters. One of Standby's biggest things is we want to help people and change lives, and I believe that wholeheartedly, too. So when you go to events like that that are in the community, you have an opportunity to do both - for a company and for an individual. The biggest challenges in our area would be that there are so many staffing companies that we really have to work hard, think outside the box on how we're gonna partner with our partners, what we can do differently than everybody else, how we can tailor their needs, making things more custom for them, so that we are really helping them to find those right people.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe that honesty is really important in both work and personal - to be honest with the people around you that you work with, the people that you love. That is a real big one for me, just to be honest in everything you do, and accountable. Accountability is huge, too. Stay accountable for your actions in both work and personal. Being honest and accountable, they kind of go hand in hand. That way, if you're being honest all the time, you're also being accountable. Those are my top two, but then, I am a believer of God, and I hold my beliefs really close as well, so that plays a lot in what I do.
