Michelle Burge

I am an attorney with over two decades of experience in estate planning, probate, trust administration, fiduciary litigation, and guardianships and conservatorships. I currently practice at Counts Law in Prairie Village, Kansas, a role I have held since February 2022, where I continue to serve clients navigating complex family and estate matters with compassion, clarity, and legal expertise.

Prior to joining Counts Law, I spent nearly seven years as an Attorney at Kirkland Woods & Martinsen LLP, focusing on fiduciary litigation, guardianships and conservatorships, probate, and estate planning. Before that, I owned and operated the Burge Law Firm for over a year and a half, where I handled probate and trust litigation, guardianships, conservatorships, and estate planning. I also served as Partner and Attorney at The Law Offices of Smith/Coonrod LLC for over two years, where I focused on estate planning, probate, guardianships, and trusts with an emphasis on complicated or contested family matters. Earlier in my career, I spent over eight years as an Attorney at Ong Law Firm, where I built a strong foundation in estate planning, probate, trust administration, guardianships, and probate and trust litigation.

Across my entire career in law, my work has been driven by a commitment to helping individuals and families protect their legacies, navigate difficult transitions, and resolve complex legal matters with integrity and care. Whether I am drafting an estate plan, representing a client in fiduciary litigation, or guiding a family through a guardianship proceeding, I bring a client-centered approach, deep legal knowledge, and a steady hand to every case I handle.
