About Michelle

Michelle Bush is a human resources and accounting professional, author, and mental wellness advocate based in Brenham, Texas. With more than 30 years of experience in human resources and accounting, along with 21 years of construction management experience in the Caribbean, she has developed extensive expertise in business operations, financial administration, employee relations, and organizational management. She currently serves as Accounting and Human Resources Director at Bluebonnet Haven LLC, where she oversees payroll administration, employee records, benefits coordination, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. Throughout her career, Michelle has also held leadership positions in hospitality, property management, real estate, sales, and travel services, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to operational excellence. She holds an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Blinn College.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Michelle is an independent author who has self-published six books focused on self-esteem, overthinking, personal development, and habit-breaking. Her book, My Mind Is Upside-Down!, reflects her commitment to helping people better understand their thought patterns and develop practical strategies for managing overthinking. Through her workbooks and journals, she encourages readers to embrace consistent effort, build healthier habits, and strengthen their confidence. As a mental wellness advocate and speaker, Michelle aims to make personal growth more accessible and inspire others to recognize their strengths. Her writing is informed by her own experiences, including a serious car accident in her twenties that resulted in a broken neck and significant brain injury. Her recovery journey demonstrates her resilience, determination, and ability to move forward despite significant challenges.

Michelle attributes much of her strength and success to her faith and the unwavering support of her family, particularly her husband of 27 years. She places a strong emphasis on honesty, integrity, self-respect, and keeping one's word, believing these values are essential to both professional success and personal fulfillment. In her current leadership role, she is passionate about employee satisfaction, retention, and recognizing the contributions of staff members, particularly in demanding care environments. She promotes appreciation through thoughtful initiatives that encourage employees to prioritize their well-being. Looking ahead, Michelle hopes to expand the reach of her books, dedicate more time to writing, and complete a novelized biography she has been developing for years. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, art, and swimming in the Caribbean Sea. Through her professional experience and personal development work, Michelle continues to encourage others to approach life's challenges with resilience, self-awareness, and a renewed sense of possibility.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the unwavering support of my family, especially my husband and my mother, and to my strong faith, which continues to guide and inspire me in both my personal and professional life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I would share is to stay true to your values, treat others with respect, and remain committed even when circumstances change unexpectedly. Building meaningful professional relationships requires listening, dependability, and giving others your full attention. I also believe in staying adaptable and making thoughtful career decisions that align with your priorities.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to listen carefully, give your team your undivided attention, and always strive to be fair and authentic. Build strong partnerships with your colleagues, value their perspectives, and lead with respect and understanding.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is keeping employees satisfied in a demanding and stressful work environment.
