Michelle Drayton

Michelle Drayton is a dedicated educator, administrator, and mentor with over three decades of service to students, families, and communities across Los Angeles. A graduate of California State University, Northridge, with a Master’s in Educational Leadership, Michelle built her career within the Los Angeles Unified School District as a teacher, Career and Technical Education Advisor, and Summer Youth Employment Program Coordinator. She later served as an administrator at Grace Hopper STEM Academy, where she focused on expanding career pathways, mentoring teachers, and supporting special populations of students. Currently, Michelle continues her mission at BetterYouth, Inc., where she provides mentorship, career development, and essential life skills to young people, helping them turn challenges into opportunities.
Her inspiration to serve was deeply rooted in her upbringing—her father was a pastor, and she has always carried the value of servant leadership into her work and life. Beyond the classroom, Michelle has helped families by arranging housing, transportation, and access to healthcare, ensuring her impact extends beyond education into holistic care and advocacy. She has been instrumental in the success and growth of BetterYouth, as well as in supporting organizations such as the Durfee Foundation, Shields for Families, Change Reaction, and SOLA.
Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, Michelle enjoys a full and joyful life. She has been married for 42 years, is the proud mother of adopted children, and finds joy in music as a member of the Voices of Faith Choir. She also has a love for acting, traveling, and simply taking scenic drives. At the heart of her journey is her unwavering belief in empowering others, and her legacy continues to be defined by her passion for education, mentorship, and community service.
